Weekly Sectional Schedule

Sectionals are an important factor in creating a unified ensemble. They allow students to get together and rehearse in Section Leader led, like-instrument ensembles to take care of complexities in the music, practice listening to each other and provide a safe and caring environment for peer feedback. These weekly sectionals are mandatory for all students and attendance will be taken and applied to their competencies for Band 15, 25, or 35. This aspect of ensemble performance is linked to two competencies in the Band 15, 25, 35 Program of Studies. The first competency is directly associated with Specific Learner Outcome 1.2 which states “Use practice routine and rehearsal skills to augments and extend elements… as evidenced in the repertoire.” The second competency is directly associated with Specific Learner Outcomes 2.8 and 2.10 which state “Assess and solve performance concerns of repertoire as a section or ensemble” and “Participate in and develop a safe and supportive environment for assessment and feedback.”
